Thought experiment about Western democracy

Here is a brief intuitive, heuristics-based thought experiment to demonstrate just one major reason why democracy in the West fails.

Imagine a democratic country called Delusia. Delusia has a huge religious population of faithful that worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. 85% of the politicians and elected members of parliament in Delusia are FSMers. This is a reflection of the total demographic.

The current elected party is of course the FSM party. However, this party is presided over by a fanatical, truly delusional, and incompetent, fundamentalist leader. They have crashed the economy, endorsed murderous warmongers for profit, and damaged the fabric of society.

The traditional opposition is mostly made up of members who are just FSMers of an opposing sect. Their record is just as bad. It is a miserable, duopolistic set of non-options. The faithful and non-believers of Delusia are all suffering greatly.

An election approaches, and one well-trained, and enormously experienced, political genius leads the only real independent alternative party. She has an almost magical capacity to fix any political and economic problem, two Nobel prizes for economics, and an astonishing 98% success record.

However, she rejects openly the beliefs of Delusia and has publicly stated that the FSM is nonsense. Moreover, The Illustrious Sacred Text of the FSM faithfully declares that the FSM does not like women leaders very much.

Now: Will she ever be voted in?

Here is a Twitter poll - just for fun:

Now - we all know that this poll does not have to even run. It will be option 3, no exceptions, EVERY TIME.
