Dear Free-thinking, Secular, Science-positive Australian,
I am announcing my intention to nominate for the senate.

If you are willing to back my bid to run for the senate, then please indicate as much when you become a member of the (as yet unregistered) Progress Party, or else introduce yourself by email at dr.bruce.long@outlook.com.
I do not need to be a leader, nor a member, of a registered political party, in order to nominate. However, I have demonstrated my drive and determination, and my capabilities, by founding a fledgling political party with a mature policy platform.
I wish for that party - The Progress Party - to be registered with the Australian Electoral Commission. However, that process is separate to my nomination, and the nomination does not depend upon it. That party registration process can be finalised, or not, after I am nominated as an independent member of Australia's upper house.
Appropriately qualified early members of Progress, and eligible early backers of my senate bid, are considered more than welcome to suggest updates and changes to the policy platform of Progress. Pursuant to maintining policy platform coherence and consistency during this period, I willl likely be disinclined to change key values and key-value policies at this time, but intelligent and useful suggestions for additional policies are welcome.
Make recommendations and requests at any time using the form on this site, or by commenting pulbicly on the news stories and posts in this news stream (Twitter responses and DM's, while welcome, may be harder for me to track effectively).
If you are eligible to be enrolled to vote on Australia's electoral roll for federal elections, then you are eligble to endorse, or back, me for nomination to the upper house.
I encourage you to watch for 'policy bites' posts that I will put in this news section of this website, and to look at the draft policy platform that I have prepared for The Progress Party. The constitution of the party is a work in progress, but is more standard and has less political relevance than the policy platform.
The existing policy platform does not have to be my constraining policy platform for running for the upper house, but it is a good place to start.
I thank you for your time and attention.
- Dr Bruce Long
